MSMEs, which account for 90-95 per cent
of re-rollers, were hit harder by the pandemic, owing to low export potential,
logistical and labour issues in the first quarter of FY21.
Indian steel industry’s revenue to rise
50-60 per cent year on year in the current fiscal year (FY22), driven by 15-17
per cent growth in domestic demand and soaring realisations. But micro, small
and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are likely to see lower growth, as they have a
higher share of long steel in the product mix.
Four industrial estates will be
established in Madurai district at a total cost of ₹218.22 crore by the Tamil
Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation Limited (TANSIDCO). Minister for
Rural Industries T.M. Anbarasan said the estates were being set up to ensure
balanced industrial growth in all regions, and they were expected to generate
over 7,000 jobs.
A credit camp for micro, small and
medium enterprises to create awareness of the various products was organised by
Punjab National Bank (PNB) at the MSME Development Institute, Balanagar in the
month of August.
